Beloved ecumenical leader and indefatigable peacemaker Dr Agnes Abuom has died at the age of 73 in her native Kenya, following a short illness.

Alors que le Pape François fait passer un message en préparation de la Journée mondiale de prière pour la sauvegarde de la Création, le secrétaire général du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), Jerry Pillay, a fait part de réflexions appuyant le message centré sur la thématique «Que la justice et la paix se répandent».

As Pope Francis presented a message in preparation for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay offered reflections that amplified the message centered around the theme “Let Justice and Peace Flow.”

“La justicia fiscal es una cuestión de fe”, afirmó Suzanne Matale. “Por la fe, [todas las personas] tienen derecho a la vida en abundancia. Los ciudadanos tienen derecho a estar informados y a participar en las mesas de toma de decisiones que afectan a la dignidad que Dios nos ha dado”.

«La justice fiscale est une question de foi», déclare Suzanne Matale. «La foi permet [à tous et à toutes] d’avoir la vie en abondance. Les personnes ordinaires ont le droit d’être informées et de participer aux prises de décision qui touchent à notre dignité donnée par Dieu».

Major global faith-based organizations are responding to the G7 meeting in Hiroshima by expressing dismay that heads of state have failed to take steps to phase out fossil fuels and fund climate-related loss and damage. The groups are renewing their calls for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.  

“Tax justice is a matter of faith,” said Suzanne Matale. “By faith, [all] are entitled to abundant life. Ordinary people have a right to know and to participate in decision-making tables that affect our own God-given dignity.”
