“Bishop Pagura was one of the pillars of Latin American and world ecumenism in the last fifty years, a faithful and courageous champion of human rights and the cause of peace in Latin America and around the globe”, wrote Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), after the passing of Bishop Emeritus Federico José Pagura, on 6 June, in Argentina.

“Pagura fue uno de los pilares de Latinoamérica y del ecumenismo mundial a lo largo de los últimos cincuenta años, un leal y valiente defensor de los derechos humanos y de la causa de la paz en Latinoamérica y en el mundo entero”, escribió el Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), después del fallecimiento del Obispo Emeritus Federico José Pagura el 6 de junio de 2016 en Argentina.

At the start of a new year of work at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva, respected German theologian Jürgen Moltmann led a day-long series of presentations and discussions as a guest of the WCC on Wednesday, 13 January. The theme “pilgrimage of justice and peace” has triggered robust discussions on furthering cooperation among Christian communication organizations in a seminar sponsored by the WCC. The seminar was held at the biannual assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Agency of Communication in Argentina.
