Pilgrims coming from Germany, Italy and Norway ended their journeys for climate justice on 7 December upon arrival at the St Stephen’s Church in Katowice, Poland, where the United Nations (UN) climate conference is underway. They were warmly welcomed by the delegations of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) that are attending the 24th Conference of Parties of UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24).

A group of ecumenical pilgrims started a journey towards the 2018 World Climate Conference hosting city Katowice, in Poland, where high level talks about the preservation of creation will take place. "Go then!" is the motto of the Ecumenical Pilgrimage for Climate Justice that took off in Bonn, Germany, on 9 September.

Un grupo de peregrinos ecuménicos inició el camino hacia Katowice, la ciudad polaca que acoge la Conferencia Mundial sobre el Clima de 2018, donde tendrán lugar conversaciones de alto nivel sobre la preservación de la creación. “Vayan entonces” (Geht doch!, en alemán) es el lema de la peregrinación ecuménica por la justicia climática que dio comienzo en Bonn (Alemania) el 9 de septiembre.

Un groupe de pèlerins œcuméniques est parti pour Katowice, en Pologne, ville hôte de la Conférence mondiale sur le climat 2018 où se dérouleront des négociations à haut niveau concernant la préservation de la création. Eine Plenarsitzung des ÖRK-Zentralausschusses befasste sich am 27. Juni mit der Frage, wie Religionsgemeinschaften sich für Kinderrechte engagieren können, und diskutierte den ihr vorgelegten Entwurf einer Erklärung mit dem Titel „Grundsätze für kinderfreundliche Kirchen“. Das Dokument soll nun weiter bearbeitet und dem ÖRK-Exekutivausschuss bei seiner nächsten Tagung erneut vorgelegt werden.

A plenary discussion on support by religious communities for the rights of children, and a first draft of the statement of “principles for child-friendly churches,” captured the imagination of the Central Committee of the WCC on 27 June. The document will now undergo further revision and be resubmitted at the next WCC executive committee meeting.

Une séance plénière sur le soutien des communautés religieuses aux droits des enfants, et un premier projet de déclaration à propos des «principes à l’intention des Églises respectueuses des enfants» ont mobilisé l’attention du comité central du COE le 27 juin. Ce document sera encore révisé et soumis à nouveau à la prochaine réunion du comité exécutif du COE.

Between 7-27 March, more than 100 images with the hash tag #7Weeks4Water were posted by Instagram users who joined the World Council of Churches (WCC) contest. Most of them told stories about water justice, illustrating the Lenten campaign “Seven Weeks for Water,” promoted by the WCC Ecumenical Water Network annually since 2008.
