WCC to participate in Peace Forum commemorating UNSCR 1325

As the world marks the 15th anniversary of the unanimous adoption of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, the WCC will participate in a Peace Forum 28 to 30 October in New York City to commemorate achievements related to the resolution and to strategize on strengthening and mobilizing women and men for even more effective implementation.

El mundo celebra el 15º aniversario de la adopción unánime de la resolución 1325 por el Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas sobre la Mujer, la Paz y la Seguridad. Con tal ocasión, el CMI participará en un Foro de la Paz en Nueva York, del 28 al 30 de octubre, para conmemorar los logros relacionados con esa resolución y elaborar estrategias para reforzar y movilizar a mujeres y hombres con vistas a alcanzar una aplicación más efectiva.

Taizé - Living Ecumenism

Well over 250 young people came to Taizé from 30 August to 6 September 2015 to participate in the first theological symposium on “Brother Roger's Contribution to Theological Thought”. Those invited to this time of reflection and sharing were theological students and young theologians under the age of 40 engaged in research as well as those preparing for service in the church or those already involved in ministry. A wide range of speakers from all over the world aroused a great deal of interest, with contributions offered from a Protestant, Orthodox and Roman Catholic viewpoint, coming from Western and Eastern Europe as well as from Asia, North America, Latin America and Africa.

The WCC has welcomed the historic announcement made by the Colombian government and the FARC revolutionary force agreeing to a framework for ending 50 years of internal conflict in the nation and addressing issues of justice and reparations to the victims.

WCC expresses sorrow over the loss of lives in Hajj stampede

“Walk of Peace” in The Hague: six kilometres of encounter and inspiration

Hopes and aspirations for peace were expressed on 20 September at the Peace Palace in the Netherlands, site of a “Walk of Peace” held on the second day of the International Week of Peace. The event was organized by the Council of Churches in the Netherlands and PAX, a Dutch peace organization, in cooperation with local churches in The Hague.

European churches encouraged to work together to address refugee crisis

In view of the current refugee crisis, European churches are being encouraged to deepen their efforts in receiving, supporting and protecting refugees who arrive in the region. This call was made in a letter issued jointly by the WCC, the Conference of European Churches and the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe.
