1st September press conference at the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly drew diverse questions from journalists directed at three panelists who celebrated the earth’s gifts as the Season of Creation opened—but tempered the joy by warning that those gifts will perish if people don’t draw together globally.

Opening to the sounds of nature reverberating through the speaker system, World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly delegates took part in the first thematic plenary, “The purpose of God’s love in Christ for the whole of creation – reconciliation and unity," on 1 September, the first day of Season of Creation.

The 11th Assembly of the World Council of Churches, which opens in Karlsruhe, Germany on 31 August, has been officially certified as an environmentally sustainable event as part of the European Commission’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, known as EMAS.

The 5th Ecumenical Pilgrimage for Climate Justice from Poland to Glasgow crossed the English Channel from IJmuiden in the Netherlands to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England on 11 October. They were given a warm welcome on site.

Pilgrims coming from Germany, Italy and Norway ended their journeys for climate justice on 7 December upon arrival at the St Stephen’s Church in Katowice, Poland, where the United Nations (UN) climate conference is underway. Eine ökumenische Pilgergruppe ist am 9. September in Bonn (Deutschland) zu ihrer Pilgerreise nach Katowice (Polen) aufgebrochen, der Stadt, die die Weltklimakonferenz 2018 ausrichten wird. Auf dieser Konferenz werden hochrangige Gespräche über die Bewahrung der Schöpfung stattfinden. Der ökumenische Pilgerweg für Klimagerechtigkeit steht unter dem Motto „Geht doch!“
