Decision of the 12th Synod of the EKD on withdrawing from coal for energy production

Synod advocates a rapid withdrawal from electrical power production by coal (lignite and anthracite), which would implement the Paris Climate Agreement and contribute to reaching the German climate targets without further delay. For that to be possible, half of the coal-fired power stations, preferably the oldest and most inefficient, must be shut down in the near future.

"Peace Now!" - Statement by the heads of churches of South Susan Council of Churches, 19 July 2018

In this statement, the South Sudan Council of Churches reflects on recent developments in the country: “The winds of violence and conflict have continued to obscure our road to light and peace, while the international community remains discouraged and frustrated by the absence of peace. It is well known that the church has historically played a key moral and spiritual role in healing and mediation at various points in our history to stop bloodshed and make peace.”
