La 56ᵉ session de la Commission des Églises pour les affaires internationales (CEAI) du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) s’est déroulée à Bali, en Indonésie, du 24 au 28 février. De nombreux sujets particulièrement préoccupants pour les Églises de la région et du reste du monde y ont été abordés.

From 29 January to 1 February, 30 representatives from various faith traditions gathered in Dhaka, Bangladesh for a workshop on “Interfaith Reflections on Just Transitions: Linking Climate and Economic Justice”. The workshop was organised by the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Council for World Mission and was hosted by the National Council of Churches in Bangladesh.

Pilgrims coming from Germany, Italy and Norway ended their journeys for climate justice on 7 December upon arrival at the St Stephen’s Church in Katowice, Poland, where the United Nations (UN) climate conference is underway. World Council of Churches Ecumenical Water Network (WCC-EWN) coordinator Dinesh Suna attended the International Sanitation Convention from 29 September - 2 October in India. The Church of South India, Green Anglicans and other groups are sharing creative ways to observe a “carbon fast" during the Lenten season. A carbon fast challenges people to examine their daily actions and reflect on how they impact the environment. On 17-23 November, the Executive Committee of the WCC met for the first time ever in China. The visit was hosted by the China Christian Council and the Three-Self Patriotic Movement. The Three-Self Patriotic Movement is a Protestant church in the People's Republic of China, as well as one of the largest Protestant bodies in the world.

November gab der Exekutivausschuss des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen eine Erklärung zu Klimagerechtigkeit ab, in der er „die drängende Sorge der Kirchen in Bezug auf den Klimawandel“ wiederholt und alle Staaten aufruft, die Verpflichtungen des Pariser Abkommens zu erfüllen.
