Some 6-7 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are reviewed every year through a United Nations (UN) mechanism called the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF). The 2018 HLPF is taking place at the UN headquarters in New York, 9-18 July.

Photo exhibition on water justice in Latin America opens

To commemorate Earth Day, observed on 22 April, a photo exhibition portraying the need for water justice in Latin America will open on 23 April in the Ecumenical Center. The work of photographer Sean Hawkey, in collaboration with the World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Water Network, will be featured in the exhibition, entitled “The blood flows and the rivers run dry.”

The World Council of Churches Ecumenical Water Network began the 2018 edition of its annual Lenten campaign “Seven Weeks for Water” in Bogota, Colombia, on 14 February. Emily Welty: tide of hope for a world free from nuclear weapons

Dr. Emily Welty is an assistant professor in Peace and Justice Studies at Pace University in New York City (USA). She also serves as vice moderator of the WCC Commission of the Churches on International Affairs. As an advocate for banning nuclear weapons, Dr Welty is known both for her unwavering belief in a world free from nuclear weapons, and for her strategic thinking toward that goal.
