Am diesjährigen Welttag gegen Menschenhandel am 30. Juli haben der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen und der Lutherische Weltbund gemeinsam ein Webinar zum Thema Menschenhandel veranstaltet, das die Stimmen von Überlebenden in den Mittelpunkt gestellt hat.

On World Day Against Trafficking in Persons—30 July—the World Council of Churches and Lutheran World Federation co-hosted a joint webinar on human trafficking that put the voices of survivors first.

"If youth in Africa are united and reconcile with our past, we will be able to confront the stumbling blocks of the continent. If we are patriotic, if we have a passion for Africa, we can transform the continent to be a home and a future for all," said Collins Shava, youth executive secretary for the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), as he reflected on the Africa: My Home. My Future. campaign being undertaken by AACC to inspire young people to be patriotic to their countries and Africa at large by utilizing their talents towards building a thriving continent.

Eine vielfältige Auswahl von 26 jungen Erwachsenen, die als Stewards auf der 11. Vollversammlung des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen zum Einsatz kommen sollen, haben vom 14. bis zum 16. Juni im Rahmen eines Online-Treffens an einer Orientierungsveranstaltung zum Stewards-Programm und zur ökumenischen Bildung teilgenommen, die Aufklärungsarbeit leisten, Führungsqualitäten entwickeln und die globale Solidarität stärken sollte und gleichzeitig als Vorbereitung der Teilnahme an zukünftigen großen ÖRK-Veranstaltungen diente. 

A diverse selection of 26 young people designated as stewards for the World Council of Churches (WCC) gathered online from 14-16 June 2021 to take part in an orientation of stewardship and ecumenical formation, designed to build awareness, develop leadership, and strengthen global solidarity, as well as an orientation on their participation in upcoming major WCC meetings. 

Welche Rolle kommt uns Christinnen und Christen beim Schutz der Umwelt zu? Weil sich die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels immer weiter verschärfen, werden die Kinder und jungen Erwachsenen von heute mit den Folgen unseres Handelns konfrontiert sein. Zum diesjährigen ökumenischen Internationalen Tag der Jugend am 12. August organisiert der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) eine Online-Veranstaltung, um jungen Menschen einen Raum zu bieten, sich über das Thema Klimawandel auszutauschen. 

What is our role as Christians in protecting the environment? As the impact of climate change intensifies over time, children and young people are facing the consequences of our actions. This year, the World Council of Churches (WCC) is organizing an online event to observe Ecumenical International Youth Day as a space for young people to discuss climate change. 

Young people have been challenged to envisage a future for the region and work together towards building a dynamic Pacific in preparation for the upcoming WCC 11th Assembly.

 



 

An online intergenerational conversation held 1 July marked the 50th anniversary of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation Programme.

A new joint publication, “Mapping Migration, Mapping Churches’ Response in Europe,” has been released by the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) and World Council of Churches (WCC).

Eine Gruppe von 26 Stewards aus aller Welt nehmen in dieser Woche an einer virtuellen Orientierungsveranstaltung teil, um sich auf die anstehende Tagung des Zentralausschusses des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirche (ÖRK) vorzubereiten. 

Die jungen Menschen aus allen Weltregionen werden vom 14. bis 16. Juni ein Programm erleben, das ihnen eine Schulung in Grundlagen der Ökumene bietet und sie in die Vorgänge und Verfahren einer ÖRK-Zentralausschusstagung einführt, die vom 23. bis 29. Juni stattfinden wird. 

 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Council for World Mission (CWM), on 14 June, opened a four-day online event, “Anti-racist in Christ? Ecumenical Christian Repentance, Reflection and Action on Racial Discrimination and Xenophobia.”

A group of 26 stewards from all over the world are convening online this week for their orientation into serving during the upcoming World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee meeting. 

The young people from all over the world will meet on 14-16 June for a programme that includes ecumenical formation as well as an introduction into the proceedings of the WCC central committee, which will convene 23-29 June. 

 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Council for World Mission, from 14-17 June, will present online the ecumenical event “Anti-racist in Christ? Ecumenical Christian Repentance, Reflection and Action on Racial Discrimination and Xenophobia.”

Churches Together in England will be marking the anniversary of the killing of George Floyd on 25 May with a special #CandleOfJustice.

Churches will be uniting at noon that day to light a candle, pray and commit to taking personal and institutional action to tackle racism in society and in churches.
