Holy God,
determined,
never giving up,
who strides with the young people
braving the streets,
who chants with them their anger,
who inspires new hopes and dreams:
encourage us with their courage,
so we let no moment of building a just peace go by,
no opportunity to lift up the downtrodden remain untested,
no chance of restoring relationships left unheeded,
through Jesus Christ,
overturning the tables in the temple,
exposing the "righteousness" of the righteous,
stirring tax collectors to give away their ill-gotten gains
blessing the persecuted
bringing good news to the poor,
the Prince of Peace.
Amen.

L:         We wait for new heavens and a new earth,
C:        where righteousness is at home.
L:         We still wait for an end to tear gas and bullets.
C:        We still wait for a just peace for all peoples.
L:         We still wait for an end to the politics of race, tribe, class, religion.
C:        We still wait to become one.
L:         We still wait for communities of women and men building hope together.
C:        We still wait to hear the angels sing, “and on earth peace.”
L:         While waiting, we continue to praise
the Blessed Trinity, one God, now and forever.
C:        Amen.
