In a letter to the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, WCC acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca shared deepest sympathies with the church and with Rev. Dr Nyansako’s family.
“Please convey our condolences to his family and to all our brothers and sisters in the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, assuring them of our prayers and solidarity in their bereavement,” Sauca wrote. “Rt Rev. Dr Nyansako was a great ecumenist, administrator, preacher and advocate for justice and peace for all humanity.”
These attributes were demonstrated during his service as the president of the All Africa Conference of Churches and as moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, noted Sauca. “He continued to contribute in the pursuit of peace even after his retirement from active service until his death,” Sauca wrote. “It is my prayer that his aspirations for justice, peace and reconciliation for which he laboured during his earthly pilgrimage will soon be achieved for the people of Cameroon.”
