A group of priests from the Orthodox Church also attended.
Pillay began his second day in Lebanon, with a visit to His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, and honorary president of the Middle East Council of Churches.
Attendees were also the Patriarchal Vicar for Syriac Studies His Eminence Bishop Severios Roger Akhrass, and the Patriarchal Secretary His Eminence Bishop Augin Nehmat.
In addition, Pillay visited His Eminence Metropolitan Antonios Al Soury, Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Zahle, Baalbek and Dependencies, who represented His Beatitude Patriarch John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and president of the Middle East Council of Churches for the Orthodox family, at the Patriarchate’s headquarters in Zahle.
A group of Orthodox priests also attended.
Pillay also traveled to Kantari, where he met with Rev. Dr Haidostian, president of Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East, as well as president of Haigazian University.
Pillay was accompanied by the secretary general of the Middle East Council of Churches, Prof. Dr Michel Abs; Middle East Council of Churches associate secretary general Dr Nicolas Bustros, a Middle East Council of Churches delegation; and WCC programme executive for the Middle East Carla Khijoyan.
