Save Children’s Lives – Responsible Banking Survival Guide for Faith Actors & Partners

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will co-host an action-oriented seminar on Tuesday, May 9th at 2 pm CET, focused on the responsible banking survival guide for faith actors and partners. This online event aims to inspire and advance the actions of faith-based actors and partners to halt the ongoing increase of CO2 emissions by stopping the financing of new fossil fuel projects, focusing on saving childrens lives and securing the future for generations to come.

Climate justice and environmental initiatives for and with children/youth webinar

Millions of children and youth have been marching to demand climate action. Only on 24 May, over 1.8 million people took part in over 2,000 activities in 125 countries all around the world.

Webinar on ending violence against children

Many WCC member churches and partner organizations have indicated that they either have experience in promoting meaningful participation of children/adolescents or would appreciate support in this area of the Churches' Commitments to Children. The webinar will include information on upcoming opportunities for churches. It also aims to foster a network of churches engaged in special efforts to give children/adolescents a space and voice in churches and in society at large.

2017 Day of the African Child

On 16 June 2017, the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance in partnership with the Kenya chapter of the International Network of Religious Leaders Living with or personally affected by HIV and AIDS (INERELA+ Kenya), along with many other organizations, is coordinating an event to highlight country-led action backed by global support. Religious leaders and leaders of faith-based organizations will remind governments of their commitments agreed in the June 2016 United Nations’ Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS that there should be “special emphasis on providing 1.6 million children (0-14 years of age) with antiretroviral therapy by 2018.”

Ending AIDS in Children by 2020

This interactive panel aims to build awareness and momentum within the Human Rights Community around the new targets for children and adolescents set in the Start Free, Stay Free, AIDS Free Framework, and in the 2016 Political Declaration on AIDS. In addition, participants will discuss how the rights of children living with HIV can be mainstreamed into the work of the human rights mechanisms.
