Religion and Violence Prevention in the Americas

The United Nations Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect, the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers and the World Council of Churches will promote a meeting to discuss the role of religious leaders in preventing incitement to violence that could lead to atrocity crimes.

Interfaith Summit on Climate Change

In order to highlight the specific contributions that faith traditions bring to the international climate debate, the WCC and Religions for Peace will organize an Interfaith Summit on Climate Change ahead of the the United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon's Climate Summit in September. To have an impact on the climate agenda, action needs to happen everywhere in the world. As key leaders meet in New York, their efforts will be enhanced by grassroots activities around the world, featured on the summit's website.
