Le 28 novembre, le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) a accueilli la présidente des Focolari, Margaret Karram, ainsi que leur coprésident, Jesús Moran, et plusieurs membres de la communauté des Focolari, et leur a proposé une visite guidée du Centre œcuménique suivie d’une discussion sur l’unité, la réconciliation, les relations interreligieuses, Foi et constitution, la communication, entre autres thèmes abordés.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) hosted Focolare president Margaret Karram and co-president Jesús Moran, as well as other members of the Focolare community, on 28 November, offering a guided tour of the Ecumenical Centre, and discussing unity, reconciliation, inter-religious bridge-building, Faith and Order, and communications, among other issues of interest.

Celebrating 100 years since the birth of Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare movement, His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the International Centre of the Focolare in Rome on 20 October. 

World Council of Churches acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca sent joyful greetings via a video message to Focolare youth who are about to celebrate Unity Week 2020.

In writing a story for the 70th anniversary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Elias Crisóstomo Abramides of Argentina, from the Ecumenical Patriarchate, is writing the story of his life. His service at the WCC opened for him the gate to meeting and loving “the very good Creation of God”: love, respect and admiration for the life of his neighbours and for all creation.

En partageant une histoire à l'occasion du 70e anniversaire du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), l'Argentin Elias Crisóstomo Abramides, membre du Patriarcat œcuménique, écrit l'histoire de sa vie. Son service au sein du COE a pour lui ouvert la porte à la rencontre et à l'amour de «la très belle Création de Dieu»: amour, respect et admiration pour la vie de ses prochains et pour toute la Création.

The relationship between the WCC and Chiara Lubich dates back to the time of the Second Vatican Council. On her death, Samuel Kobia paid tribute, saying: “Our love for Chiara and immense gratitude for the gift of God she has been to the ecumenical movement, will continue to motivate and inspire us in our work for the visible unity of the church”.

Les relations entre le COE et Chiara Lubich remontent à l’époque du concile Vatican II. Quand Chiara Lubich est décédée, Samuel Kobia, secrétaire général du COE à l'époque, lui a rendu hommage en ces termes: «Notre amour pour Chiara et notre immense gratitude pour le don de Dieu qu’elle a représenté pour le mouvement œcuménique continueront à motiver et à inspirer notre travail en vue de l’unité visible de l’Église.»
