WCC Eco School for North America postponed until 2023

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has postponed its Eco School in North America until 2023, when it will be held in Europe. To accommodate participants from North America, a special event will be conducted in the region. Details about the event and the venue will be announced soon.

New and Emerging Technologies, Ethical Challenges (statement)

The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love (Psalm 33:5)

New technologies are transforming our world and the multiple spaces in which we live, work and witness. These technologies offer us new ways to create, to heal, to communicate, and to navigate the world. However, many such technologies, while undoubtedly offering actual or potential advances in human wellbeing, have also raised concerns regarding their social and environmental impacts and ethical implications, especially in light of the rapidity of their development and application.

Religious leaders in Zimbabwe participate in male engagement workshop

Religious leaders are the ultimate game changers in mobilizing men and boys to provide effective responses to HIV, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender-based violence, and to promote comprehensive sexuality education. This was an important message from a training of trainers workshop in Harare, Zimbabwe, on 29 September. As they are rooted in community, respected, and influential, religious leaders are well-placed to promote men’s uptake of services, said local experts.

Journalists reflect on telling the stories of the WCC 11th Assembly

Dr Corina Meuhlstedt, a well-known German radio journalist, described what it was like to tell the stories of the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly. “The positive atmosphere was my biggest takeaway form the assembly,” she said. “I felt that Christians of very different denominations, some who even live in countries in conflict, were able to overcome prejudice and hostility—at least for a certain time—by seeing Christ in the other.”
