The World Council fo Churches (WCC) central committee leadership convened on 27 October to prepare for the upcoming WCC executive committee in November, which will be the executive committee’s first in-person meeting in two years.

Nearly 60 ecumenical officers are convening this week, focusing on plans for the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly in 2022 and its theme, “Christ ́s love moves the world to reconciliation and unity.”

The Executive Committee of the Joint Working Group between the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Roman Catholic Church met virtually on 12 October to exchange reflections on addressing current challenges and to plan release of future publications.

A team from the Church of Westphalia visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Institute at Bossey from 27 September to 1 October, exploring a global view of ecumenism by learning about the WCC as a global ecumenical organisation.

My Future. campaign being undertaken by AACC to inspire young people to be patriotic to their countries and Africa at large by utilizing their talents towards building a thriving continent.

On 20 July, faith communities from 70 different groups across the world gathered online and in-person in Washington, DC to express solidarity for the billions of people without access to COVID-19 vaccines.

A diverse selection of 26 young people designated as stewards for the World Council of Churches (WCC) gathered online from 14-16 June 2021 to take part in an orientation of stewardship and ecumenical formation, designed to build awareness, develop leadership, and strengthen global solidarity, as well as an orientation on their participation in upcoming major WCC meetings. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee will meet 15 July by videoconference to monitor plans for the 11th WCC Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany in 2022 in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

How will the churches use the wide range of new opportunities in the post-pandemic context? How will they call to faith and trust as we move beyond the global health crisis to a time of renewal? These were the core questions that representatives of the European region addressed during a discussion that took place at the World Council of Churches central committee meeting, 23-29 June.

Pastor Allen Nafuki, assembly clerk of the Presbyterian Church in Vanuatu, passed away on 13 June. He had planned to be his church’s only delegate to the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe in 2022.
