Seyyed Abolhassan Nawab et Mme Zahra Sedigh, de la mission iranienne auprès des Nations Unies, ont visité le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), le 27 juillet, pour évoquer l’éducation et la formation ainsi que l’importance du renforcement du rôle de la coopération interreligieuse.

Iranian rector Ayatollah M. Seyyed Abolhassan Nawab and Ms Zahra Sedigh, from the Iranian Mission to the UN, visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) on 27 July, discussing education and formation, as well as the importance of strengthening the role of interreligious cooperation.  

As students gathered at the WCC Ecumenical Institute at Bossey for an interreligious summer school, they reflected on what brought them to the institute, and what knowledge and insights they will take home.

Relations between the WCC and the Centre for Interreligious Dialogue in Tehran go back more than 20 years. One recent fruit of this relationship has been the developing links between the WCC and the University of Religions and Denominations in the Iranian holy city of Qom.

Las relaciones entre el CMI y el Centro para el Diálogo Interreligioso en Teherán se remontan a más de 20 años. Uno de los frutos recientes de esta relación ha sido el desarrollo de vínculos entre el CMI y la Universidad de las Religiones y las Denominaciones en la ciudad santa iraní de Qom.

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises entretient depuis plus de 20 ans des relations avec le Centre pour le dialogue interreligieux de Téhéran. Récemment, ces relations ont conduit à la création de liens entre le COE et l’Université des religions et dénominations, située dans la ville sainte iranienne de Qom.

The Grand Imam of Cairo’s prestigious Al-Azhar mosque and university, Prof. Dr Ahmad al-Tayyeb, will visit the WCC to give a public lecture and participate in high-level dialogue on interreligious peacemaking. “We are honoured to welcome one of the world’s highest-ranking and most influential Muslim leaders to Geneva, and I very much look forward to his lecture and to sharing views with him on the many challenges that we as religious persons and leaders face together,” says WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit.

A new initiative titled Ecumenical Institute for the Middle East is “promising and inspiring” in its attempt to train young Christians in ecumenical thought and history, according to Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the WCC.

Amidst the reality of tensions often fueled by religions, a group of Christian, Muslim and Jewish youth has formed a multi-faith community. As part of an interfaith summer course sponsored by the WCC, this community wants to work for the protection of creation – a concern they say is common to all faith traditions.

En un contexto de tensiones muchas veces relacionadas con los distintos grupos religiosos, un grupo de jóvenes cristianos, musulmanes y judíos ha creado una comunidad interreligiosa. En el marco del curso de verano "Construyendo una comunidad interreligiosa" organizado por el CMI, este grupo tiene el propósito de trabajar para el cuidado de la Creación, una preocupación que comparten todas las tradiciones religiosas.

Sur fond de tensions internationales souvent alimentées par les religions, un groupe composé de jeunes chrétiens, musulmans et juifs a constitué une communauté multireligieuse. Dans le cadre d'un cours d'été interreligieux organisé sous l'égide du COE, cette communauté veut œuvrer à la protection de la création, une préoccupation qui, selon eux, est partagée par toutes les traditions religieuses.

Young people of the Christian, Muslim and Jewish faiths have created a unique community during a summer course at the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey. Together they seek to break religious stereotypes, promote mutual respect and enhance their understanding of religions beyond the conflict paradigm.
