With the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly approaching in less than four months, Orthodox Churches will convene in Cyprus for a pre-assembly to prepare themselves for the larger event in Karlsruhe, Germany, 31 August – 8 September.

As part of an ongoing series on bilateral dialogues, the World Council of Churches (WCC) will host a webinar, “Church, Mission, and the Bonds of Koinonia,” on 27 April that will bring in voices from the Anglican Communion, World Communion of Reformed Churches, and World Pentecostal Fellowship.

This webinar will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth (on 19 August 1921) of Philip Potter, World Council of Churches general secretary from 1972 to 1984, and a pivotal figure in the ecumenical movement from the very beginnings of the WCC at its 1st Assembly in Amsterdam in 1948 when he was the spokesperson for youth.

A 9 March webinar—the third in a series of seven on bilateral dialogues—will focus on “Anglican-Orthodox Dialogue: History, Results, Reception” as well as the Canterbury Statement “Stewards of Creation: A Hope-Filled Ecology,” a statement on ecology jointly published by the Anglican Communion and the Orthodox Churches in October 2020. 

A webcast to be launched on 25 November, of two one-hour sessions, will be the second in a series on ecumenical bilateral dialogues and their importance for the one ecumenical movement.

A new webinar series will explore the role of bilateral dialogues among diverse churches. A webinar on 27 October will be the first in a series on ecumenical bilateral dialogues and their importance for the one ecumenical movement.

International forum will aim at promoting inter-contextual and cross-cultural dialogue on topics such as social service, sustainable development and peace among Chinese, European and global NGOs, government authorities and academia.
