Hoje os cristãos caribenhos de diferentes tradições vêem a mão de Deus agindo para terminar com a escravidão. É uma experiência de união em torno da ação salvadora de Deus que leva à liberdade. Por essa razão, a escolha do canto de Moisés e Miriam (Ex 15, 1-21) como motivação na Semana de Oração pela Unidade dos Cristãos em 2018 foi considerada muito adequada. É um canto de triunfo sobre a opressão. Esse tema foi assumido em um hino, A mão direita de Deus, escrito numa reunião de trabalho da Conferência Caribenha de Igrejas em agosto de 1981, e que se tornou marca do movimento ecumênico na região, traduzido para numerosos diferentes idiomas.

In his report to the Executive Committee, WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit noted that we are living in a time when the purpose and the objectives of the WCC are highly relevant.

Based on these realities, there is a need for a new search for unity, he said. “Through the many dimensions of its work, the WCC contributes to the unity of the church, and the unity that the WCC is able to express, in turn, contributes to the unity of humankind.”

Mit dem Thema „Deine rechte Hand, Herr, ist herrlich an Stärke“ und dem zentralen Bibeltext aus dem Buch Exodus/2. Mose 15,1-21 zeichnen sie die Situation der Christen in der Karibik in die Befreiungsgeschichte des Volkes Israel aus der Sklaverei in Ägypten ein.

Esta es una experiencia unificadora de la acción salvífica de Dios que dona libertad. Por este motivo se consideró muy apropiada la elección del canto de Moisés y María (Ex 15, 1-21) como tema para la Semana de Oración por la Unidad de los Cristianos 2018.

Aujourd'hui, les chrétiens de nombreuses traditions différentes voient dans la fin de l'esclavage l’action de la main de Dieu. Pour eux, il s’agit d’une expérience commune de l'action salvatrice de Dieu qui apporte la liberté. C'est pourquoi le choix du chant de Moïse et de Miryam (Ex 15,1-21) comme thème de la Semaine de prière pour l'unité des chrétiens 2018 a été considéré comme le plus approprié.

Abram’s journey in Genesis 12 as a response to God’s guidance becomes a pilgrimage of blessings. The unnamed destination of his pilgrimage is encountering people and their land. Abram will become a a kind of “platform” of blessings among other peoples and nations, rather than an exemplar of the exercise of power and control over those peoples and their land. As God commissioned Abram to go forth as a source of blessings, God calls us to go in the pilgrimage of blessings.
