The Migrant Network of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Denmark has started a series of webinars about church, migration and integration. The perspective is how to grow an international church in Denmark, and the discussion also centers on the global Christian fellowship.

Im Anschluss an die hochrangige ÖRK/UN-Konferenz über die Flüchtlingskrise in Europa, die am 18. und 19. Januar im Ökumenischen Zentrum in Genf stattgefunden hat, wurde eine Erklärung mit dem Titel „Europas Reaktion auf die Flüchtlings- und Migrantenkrise, von den Ursprungsorten über die Durchgangsstationen bis zur Aufnahme und Zuflucht: ein Aufruf zu gemeinsamer Verantwortung und koordiniertem Handeln“ herausgegeben.

Following the WCC/UN High Level Conference on the Refugee Crisis in Europe, which took place at the Ecumenical Centre Geneva on 18-19 January, a statement has been issued entitled "Europe’s Response to the Refuge Crisis, From Origin to Transit, Reception and Refuge, A Call for Shared Responsibility and Coordinated Action”.

Tras la conferencia de alto nivel celebrada en el Centro Ecuménico de Ginebra el 18 y el 19 de enero por el CMI y la ONU sobre la crisis de refugiados en Europa, se ha publicado una declaración titulada La respuesta de Europa a la crisis de refugiados y migrantes, desde los países de origen y de tránsito hasta los de acogida y refugio: llamamiento a la responsabilidad compartida y las medidas concertadas.

À l’issue d’une conférence de haut niveau sur la crise des réfugiés en Europe, organisée par le COE et des agences onusiennes au Centre œcuménique de Genève les 18 et 19 janvier, une déclaration a été produite, intitulée «La réponse de l’Europe à la crise des réfugiés et des migrants – Départ, transit, accueil et refuge: un appel au partage des responsabilités et à la coordination des actions».

The Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe and the WCC have published a revised and updated edition of their joint study, Mapping Migration: Mapping Churches’ Responses in Europe. The 2016 text explores challenges and changes in the European church landscape in light of international migration.

UN-Forums für Wirtschaft und Menschenrechte organisierte der ÖRK in Zusammenarbeit mit dem ACT-Bündnis und dem Lutherischen Weltbund eine Veranstaltung zum Thema „Der Beitrag kirchlicher Organisationen zum Schutz der Landrechte von Gemeinschaften: Erkenntnisse und bewährte Praktiken aus Afrika, Asien und Lateinamerika”.

During the 4th United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights, the WCC, in collaboration with the ACT Alliance and Lutheran World Federation, organized a side-event on “Faith-based organizations’ contribution to the protection of communities’ land rights: lessons learnt and good practices from Africa, Asia and Latin America” at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva.

Au cours du quatrième Forum des Nations Unies sur les entreprises et les droits de l’homme, le COE, en collaboration avec l’Alliance ACT et la Fédération luthérienne mondiale, a organisé une réunion sur le thème: «La contribution des organisations d’inspiration religieuse à la protection des droits fonciers des communautés – Leçons apprises et bonnes pratiques d’Afrique, d’Asie et d’Amérique latine».

In the wake of recent crisis with the refugees in Europe, it is “absolutely and critically necessary that all European states take their proper responsibility in terms of reception and support for people seeking refuge, safety and a better future for themselves and their families. This cannot be left only to the states where they enter first,” says the WCC general secretary.

In tiefer Sorge um die Migrantinnen und Migranten in vielen Regionen der Welt, insbesondere um diejenigen, „die aus Verzweiflung unter großen Risiken und Gefahren reisen“, erklärte der Exekutivausschuss des ÖRK: „Alle Mitglieder der internationalen Gemeinschaft haben die moralische und rechtliche Verpflichtung, das Leben der Menschen zu retten, die auf See oder auf der Durchreise in Lebensgefahr schweben, ungeachtet ihrer Herkunft oder ihres Status.“

Deeply concerned for migrants in many regions, especially those “driven to undertake journeys of desperate risk and danger”, the WCC Executive Committee has declared: “All members of the international community have a moral and legal duty to save the lives of those in jeopardy at sea or in transit, regardless of their origin and status.”

Profundamente preocupado por la situación de los migrantes en muchas regiones y, en particular, por la de aquellos “obligados a emprender viajes desesperados llenos de riesgos y peligros”, el Comité Ejecutivo del CMI declaró que “todos los miembros de la comunidad internacional tienen el deber moral y legal de salvar las vidas de aquellos que están en peligro, sea en el mar o durante su tránsito, independientemente de su origen o condición”.
