A webinar held 22 October gave space for persons with disabilities to share their reflections. Entitled “From Lamentation to Transformation,” the event, first in a series of webinars on COVID-19 perspectives, highlighted hope through stories, practical support, and social change as experienced by persons with disabilities.

A delegation from the World Council of Churches (WCC) including representatives from Malaysia and Jordan as well as the Director of the WCC’s Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) visited The Bahamas from 13-17 November 2018 to consult with church leaders, to participate in a workshop coordinated by the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

How does missional formation transform discipleship? A consultation in Cuba from 10-16 September explored this question and others related to the text Together Towards Life. The gathering was coordinated by the World Council of Churches Commission on World Mission and Evangelism as part of an ongoing quest to explore the means and methodologies for the practical application of Together Towards Life in the life of WCC member churches and mission community.

During the 4th United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights, the WCC, in collaboration with the ACT Alliance and Lutheran World Federation, organized a side-event on “Faith-based organizations’ contribution to the protection of communities’ land rights: lessons learnt and good practices from Africa, Asia and Latin America” at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva.

Mit Blick auf die gegenwärtige Flüchtlingskrise sollen die europäischen Kirchen ihre Anstrengungen bei der Aufnahme, der Unterstützung und dem Schutz von Flüchtlin¬gen, die in der Region ankommen, weiter verstärken. Dazu haben der ÖRK, die Konferenz Europäischer Kirchen und die Kommission der Kirchen für Migranten in Europa in einem gemeinsam verfassten Brief aufgerufen.

In view of the current refugee crisis, European churches are being encouraged to deepen their efforts in receiving, supporting and protecting refugees who arrive in the region. This call was made in a letter issued jointly by the WCC, the Conference of European Churches and the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe.

En vista de la actual crisis de los refugiados, se está alentando a las iglesias europeas a que intensifiquen sus labores de acogida, apoyo y protección de los refugiados que están llegando a la región. Ese llamamiento se hizo a través de una carta emitida conjuntamente por el CMI, la Conferencia de Iglesias Europeas y la Comisión de las Iglesias para los Migrantes en Europa.
