How much is the mission of the church related to people with disabilities? These days we talk a lot about inclusive societies and churches. But, have we arrived there? Are our societies and churches taking seriously the problems and challenges that people with disabilities face on a daily basis? People with disabilities find themselves quite often at the margins of the societies and even of the churches.

Der ehemalige ÖRK-Generalsekretär spricht in seiner neusten Veröffentlichung „The Challenge of Transformation: An Ecumenical Journey“ über diesen Pilgerweg. Am 5. Februar, kurz nach Raisers 80. Geburtstag, trafen sich in Genf verschiedene Generationen, Konfessionen und Nationalitäten zur Diskussion über das eben erschienene Buch.

Rev. Dr Konrad Raiser has been on an ecumenical journey for most of his adult life, which spans 80 years. The former WCC general secretary relates some of this pilgrimage in his newest publication, “The Challenge of Transformation: An Ecumenical Journey.” On 5 February, shortly after Raiser’s birthday, ecumenical experts from different generations, confessions and continents met in Geneva to discuss the newest publication by the man who led the WCC from 1993 to 2003.

El Rev. Dr. Konrad Raiser, de 80 años, ha recorrido un camino ecuménico durante la mayor parte de su vida adulta. El ex secretario general del CMI relata una parte de esta peregrinación en su publicación más reciente, “The Challenge of Transformation: An Ecumenical Journey”. El 5 de febrero, poco después del cumpleaños de Raiser, expertos ecuménicos de diferentes generaciones, confesiones y continentes se reunieron en Ginebra para hablar de la nueva publicación.

Les 80 années de la vie du pasteur Konrad Raiser ont été en grande partie marquées par un cheminement œcuménique. L’ancien secrétaire général du COE rappelle des éléments de ce pèlerinage dans son dernier ouvrage intitulé «Le Défi de la transformation, un cheminement œcuménique». Le 5 février, des spécialistes de l’œcuménisme appartenant à différentes générations, à diverses confessions, et venant de différents continents se sont retrouvés à Genève pour débattre du récent ouvrage de celui qui a dirigé le COE de 1993 à 2003.

The latest edition of the quarterly WCC journal features a discussion of the roots of religion and violence in the Middle East. Five presentations drawn from three WCC-sponsored conferences of recent years explore aspects of the religious concepts of “promised land,” the “theology of land” and how to go about “reading the Hebrew Bible in solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

Während einer Tagung, die jüngst in Straßburg, Frankreich, stattgefunden hat, haben Vertreterinnen und Vertreter von ökumenischen Organisationen, der katholischen, evangelikalen und Pfingstkirchen versprochen, der Diskriminierung und Verfolgung von Christinnen und Christen weltweit und der Gewalt ihnen gegenüber entschiedener entgegenzutreten. Eine internationale Konsultation wird sich 2015 eingehender mit diesem Thema auseinandersetzen.

A recent meeting of representatives from ecumenical organizations, Catholic, Evangelical and Pentecostal churches in Strasbourg, France has promised to address more effectively discrimination, persecution and violence faced by Christians around the world. This theme will be explored in depth through an international consultation to be held in 2015.

En su reciente reunión en Estrasburgo (Francia), los representantes de las organizaciones ecuménicas y de las iglesias católicas, evangélicas y pentecostales han prometido abordar más eficazmente la cuestión de la discriminación, la persecución y la violencia a la que se enfrentan los cristianos en el mundo. Este tema se explorará más en profundidad durante una consulta internacional que se celebrará en 2015.

Réunis à Strasbourg (France), des représentants d'organisations œcuméniques et d'Églises des traditions catholique, évangélique et pentecôtiste ont promis de s'attaquer plus efficacement à la discrimination, à la persécution et à la violence auxquelles sont confrontés les chrétiens à l'échelle de la planète. Ce thème sera étudié en profondeur à l'occasion d'un colloque international qui se tiendra en 2015.
