At the recently concluded World Social Forum in Mexico City, a delegation from the World Council of Churches (WCC) reflected on ecological justice by addressing the nexus between water, food and climate change. 

Indebtedness and climate change are intersecting concerns that are upending the lives of many people in the global south. This nexus was explicitly addressed from faith-rooted and ethical perspectives at a side event held as part of the Civil Society Policy Forum of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual spring meetings.

The new dates are 20-26 November 2022.  Convening in-person at the Stony Point Center in New York, the event is open to young people under 30 years of age from the North America region only.

The Zacchaeus Tax Campaign calls for a global tax and economic system that acts like Zacchaeus, the tax collector who repented of his wicked ways, to deliver equity and make reparation for exploitation and injustice. To both educate and enable churches to organize around the issue of tax justice, the campaign has recently released the ZacTax Toolkit.

During a discussion, “Tax the rich, save the planet,” on 8 November, speakers explored how a global tax and economic system can deliver equity and make reparations for the exploitation of people and planet.
