The Pacific Conference of Churches joined other nongovernmental and civic groups on the streets of Suva, Fiji, to peacefully demonstrate against Japan’s dumping of Fukushima nuclear wastewater into the ocean.

Als am 10. März 157 Menschen beim Absturz eines Flugzeugs der Ethiopian Airlines kurz nach dem Start in der Nähe der Stadt Addis Abeba ums Leben kamen, drückte der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen sein tief empfundenes Mitgefühl aus und schloss die Hinterbliebenen in seine Gebete ein. Das Flugzeug war auf dem Weg nach Nairobi, Kenia, wo am Montag die UN-Umweltversammlung begann. Unter den Toten befinden sich Umweltschützer und Angestellte der UN, darunter auch Pfarrer Norman Tendis, ÖRK-Referent für Ökonomie des Lebens.
