“It was with sadness that we received the news of the passing of Prof. Dr Julio Hector de Santa Ana, a reference of ecumenical theology in a liberating perspective,” said Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC). De Santa Ana passed away in Geneva, Switzerland, on 17 April.

Pastor Dr. Odair Pedroso Mateus nahm seine Lehrtätigkeit am Ökumenischen Institut in Bossey im Jahre 2004 auf und gehört seit 2007 zum Ökumenischen Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK). Eine Zeit lang übernahm er die Aufgabe des kommissarischen stellvertretenden Generalsekretärs des ÖRK und leitete die Kommission für Glauben und Kirchenverfassung. WCC relaunches Sarah Chakko Scholarship Fund

As of January 2020, the WCC has relaunched its Sarah Chakko Scholarship Fund. The fund was first established in 1998, at the end of the Ecumenical Decade of Solidarity with Women, aiming to promote the education of women for leadership competencies for the ecumenical movement.

Eager ecumenists embark on new missions

Monday 28 January was a very special day for 25-year-old student Kezia Wairata from Jakarta, Indonesia. Along with 30 dedicated peers she received her diploma in advanced studies of ecumenism at the WCC Ecumenical Institute in Bossey, Switzerland.

Das Ökumenische Institut in Bossey, das Papst Franziskus am Donnerstag, 21. Juni, im Rahmen seiner Pilgerfahrt zum Ökumenischen Rat der Kirchen in Genf besuchen wird, ist eine Ideenwerkstatt, in der zukünftige Wege zur christlichen Einheit erschlossen werden.
Das nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg zur Förderung von Dialog und Begegnungen zwischen Angehörigen der verschiedenen christlichen Kirchen gegründete Institut ist in einem eleganten Château aus dem 18. Jahrhundert beheimatet, von dem aus man einen Blick über den Genfersee und das Alpenpanorama genießt.

Latin American, Caribbean theologians strengthen collaboration

Christian Conference of Asia explores “our common journey”

The Christian Conference of Asia (CCA), on 11-12 July, held an international consultation on “Towards Revitalising the Ecumenical Movement in Asia.” The gathering of 60 church and ecumenical leaders was organised by the CCA at its headquarters in Chiang Mai, Thailand as a prelude to its Diamond Jubilee celebration.
