Recently during the PJP harvest gathering meeting of WCC, at a workshop on revisiting the Seven Weeks for Water – Lenten campaign of the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Water Network, Dr Agnes Abuom was asked to reflect on the linkage between the WCC’s water justice campaign and the WCC’s overarching theme of Pilgrimage of  Justice and Peace? Having attended several PJP meetings and Lenten campaigns herself, she responded in a pre-recorded video message. The following is the transcript of her video message.

The Joint Working Group (JWG) between the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) and the World Council of Churches (WCC) met virtually for its plenary session from 12-14 April 2021 under the leadership of His Eminence Archbishop and Metropolitan Nifon of Târgoviște, Romanian Orthodox Church, and Most Reverend Diarmuid Martin, Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Dublin.

During an online meeting on 3 February 2021, the Executive Committee of the Joint Working Group between the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Roman Catholic Church focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on ecclesial life and ecumenical relations in different local contexts.

The leadership of the Joint Working Group between the Roman Catholic Church and the World Council of Churches (WCC), during an online meeting held 6 November, released a communique acknowledging the current unprecedented challenges and mapping the work ahead.

Like David in Psalms 37: 25-26; I can comfortably state that I once was young and now I am not so young and during these years, God made it possible for me to meet and interact with a few of the ecumenical icons. These were men and women who were visionary and committed to the cause of church unity and the unity of humankind.

The Joint Working Group (JWG) between the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) and the World Council of Churches (WCC) met in Lyon, France for its annual plenary session from 2-5 September 2019. The meeting was hosted at Centre Jean Bosco which is owned and run by the Order of Don Bosco (Salesians), a Catholic Order devoted to working with youth.

The Executive Committee of the Joint Working Group (JWG) between the World Council of Churches and the Roman Catholic Church met in Warsaw, Poland, from 6 to 8 May 2019 under the leadership of His Eminence Archbishop and Metropolitan Nifon of Târgoviște (Romanian Orthodox Church) and His Excellency Diarmuid Martin, Catholic Archbishop of Dublin and Primate of Ireland. Meeting at the Retreat Center of the Disciples of the Divine Master, the group had an excellent opportunity to learn about the ecclesial and ecumenical situation in Poland. Time was given to sharing about recent activities and ongoing cooperation between the Catholic Church and the WCC.
