Le COE défend la dignité humaine au Conseil des droits de l’homme

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) a eu un impact positif à la 41e session du Conseil des droits de l’homme des Nations Unies, tenue du 24 juin au 12 juillet.
Le COE s’engage depuis longtemps auprès du système des droits de l’homme des Nations Unies, en défendant et en témoignant de la dignité humaine et la justice au nom du mouvement œcuménique mondial.

Mme Agnes Abuom, présidente du Comité central du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), a fait quelques remarques introductives lors de l’ouverture de la réunion du Comité exécutif du COE qui se tient du 22 au 28 mai à l’Institut œcuménique de Bossey.
«Nous arrivons avec beaucoup d’attentes et le désir de faire part des expériences de nos Églises, nos communautés et nos pays», a déclaré A. Abuom. «J’ai espoir que celles-ci se réalisent formellement et informellement durant ce temps passé ensemble ici à Bossey.»

WCC to hold Midday Prayer for those grieving after flight disaster

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is inviting the public, media, and all people of goodwill to join in a Midday Prayer on 20 March. Prayers will focus on grieving family, friends and colleagues who lost loved ones from UN agencies, the WCC and other organizations who perished in the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash on 10 March.

Two Norwegian world leaders met in Geneva to discuss environmental issues and open up for closer collaboration. Erik Solheim, UN Environment executive director and under-secretary-general of the United Nations visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) in the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva, Switzerland on 10 April, where he discussed with WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit both the meaning and importance of working together on environmental issues to bring hope to the world.

Erik Solheim, directeur exécutif du Programme des Nations Unies pour l’environnement et secrétaire général adjoint des Nations Unies, a rendu visite au COE au Centre œcuménique à Genève, en Suisse, le 10 avril dernier, où il a parlé, avec le secrétaire général du COE, le pasteur Olav Fykse Tveit, tant de la signification que de l’importance d'une action commune sur les questions environnementales, source d'espérance pour le monde.

Network of Christian entrepreneurs commits to faith in business

WCC Blue Community implements water changes in the Ecumenical Centre

The WCC celebrated implementation of its responsible water commitments in an event on 15 February in the Ecumenical Centre. The WCC became a Blue Community In October 2016. The special occasion was marked by the visit of Dr Maude Barlow from the Blue Planet Project, Canada, who awarded a “blue community certificate” to the WCC and raised awareness of the problems created by indiscriminate use of disposable plastic bottles and their negative impact on our planet’s ecosystem.
