WCC congratulates 2021 Nobel Peace Prize laureates

As the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to journalists Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov, World Council of Churches (WCC) acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca congratulated them and expressed solidarity with their ongoing fight for justice and peace.

Tras conocerse la concesión del Premio Nobel de la Paz a los periodistas Maria Ressa y Dmitry Muratov, el secretario general en funciones del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), Rev. Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, felicitó a los galardonados y expresó su solidaridad con su lucha constante por la justicia y la paz.

À l’annonce de l’attribution du prix Nobel de la paix à deux journalistes, Maria Ressa et Dmitry Muratov, le père Ioan Sauca, secrétaire général par intérim du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), leur a adressé ses félicitations et a exprimé sa solidarité avec leur lutte constante pour la justice et la paix.

Nach der Verleihung des Friedensnobelpreises an die Journalistin Maria Ressa und ihren Kollegen Dmitri Muratow gratulierte ihnen der geschäftsführende Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK), Priester Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, zu dieser Würdigung und erklärte sich solidarisch mit ihrem anhaltenden Kampf für Gerechtigkeit und Frieden.

"Transformative spirituality is a breath of fire"

Transformative spiritualities and mission is a significant point of discussion at the pre-assembly event of the WCC Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) which is currently under way in Manila. Transformative spiritualities are also one of the constituent themes of the CWME statement on mission and evangelism that will be presented to the WCC 10th Assembly in Busan, Korea in 2013. Dr Rico Palaca Ponce, academic director of the Institute of Spirituality in Asia based in Quezon City, the Philippines, gave an interview on the topic on 23 March.

Church to renew its thinking on mission and evangelism

With more than 200 participants from around the globe, an event of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) starts today in Manila, the Philippines. Its aim is to seek renewed thinking on mission and evangelism, developing a draft of the WCC statement on mission and evangelism that succeeds a statement of thirty years ago.
