WCC Executive Committee speaks out on migrant crises

Deeply concerned for migrants in many regions, especially those “driven to undertake journeys of desperate risk and danger”, the WCC Executive Committee has declared: “All members of the international community have a moral and legal duty to save the lives of those in jeopardy at sea or in transit, regardless of their origin and status.”

At 7th World Water Forum, civil society organizations “co-opted” into the fold

“The increased interest of corporate organizations in the World Water Forum has a tendency to discourage civil society’s participation in addressing the water crisis,” said Dinesh Suna, coordinator of the Ecumenical Water Network of the WCC upon his return from the 7th World Water Forum, which concluded on 17 April in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, Republic of Korea.

Worship service in Pyongyang focuses on peace and reunification of Korean peninsula

Prayers for peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula were held at the Bongsu Church in Pyongyang, North Korea on 15 August, with participation from a nineteen-member delegation organized by the National Council of Churches in Korea, comprised of representatives from member churches of the WCC and ecumenical organizations from South Korea, including women and youth delegates.
