Vom 10.–12. Juli fand in Bangkok eine Tagung des Ökumenischen Forums für Frieden, Wiedervereinigung und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit auf der koreanischen Halbinsel statt. Das Forum hat in seinem veröffentlichten Kommuniqué erneut Frieden gefordert und mögliche Wege zur Wiederaufnahme von Friedensgesprächen aufgezeigt.

An Ecumenical Forum for Peace, Reunification and Development Cooperation on the Korean Peninsula, held 10-12 July in Bangkok, has issued a communique that reiterates calls for peace and outlines possible steps toward renewed dialogue.

Juli in Bangkok stattfindet, hat der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) seinen Aufruf zum Frieden auf der koreanische Halbinsel wiederholt und bekräftigt.

On 27 April, some 500,000 people joined hands to form a “human peace chain” along the 500 km long Demilitarized Zone between South and North Korea. They expressed their strong desire for permanent peace in the Korean Peninsula, gathering to celebrate the first anniversary of Panmunjom Declaration and commemorate the centennial of the 1 March Independence Movement.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) condemned the massacre earlier this month of 14 farmers by police officers in Canlaon City, as well as Manjuyod and Santa Catalina towns in Negros Oriental in the Philippines. The WCC also renewed its call for the government of the Philippines to end the culture of impunity and to ensure full investigation and accountability for all such killings.

Der Zentralausschuss des Koreanischen Christenbundes (Nordkorea) und der Nationale Kirchenrat von Korea (Südkorea) haben ihr jährliches gemeinsames Gebet für die friedliche Wiedervereinigung der koreanischen Halbinsel für 2018 verfasst. Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen lädt seine Gemeinschaft und alle Menschen guten Willens ein, dieses Gebet während der Andacht und besonders am 12. August zu sprechen, dem Wochenende vor dem 15. August und damit dem Jahrestag der Befreiung und Teilung Koreas.

The Korean Christian Federation Central Committee (North Korea) and the National Council of Churches in Korea (South Korea) have composed their annual joint prayer for peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula for 2018. The World Council of Churches is inviting its fellowship and all people of goodwill to use the prayer during worship, especially on 12 August, the weekend before August 15th, the anniversary of Korea's liberation and division.
