World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit has accepted an invitation from the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children to serve on the organization’s board of directors.

John Floberg, called on communities of faith to converge at the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota, USA from 2-4 November to “stand witness to water protectors’ acts of compassion for God's creation, and to the transformative power of God's love to make a way out of no way.”

Am 19. September wird die Petition am Hauptsitz der Vereinten Nationen der Generalversammlung übergeben.

As wars and conflict continue to force thousands of families to flee their homes every day, the WCC appeals to all people of good will to support the UNHCR’s #WithRefugees campaign. By signing a petition to be handed over to the UN headquarters before the General Assembly meeting on 19 September, people around the globe are asked to raise their voices, to ensure that every refugee child gets an education, that every refugee family has somewhere safe to live, and that every refugee can work or learn new skills to make a positive contribution to their community.

Al firmar la petición que se entregará en la sede de la ONU antes de la reunión de la Asamblea General del 19 de septiembre, se pide a los habitantes del mundo entero que alcen la voz para garantizar que todos los niños refugiados reciban educación, que todas las familias refugiadas tengan un lugar seguro donde vivir, y que todos los refugiados puedan trabajar o formarse para adquirir nuevas competencias y, así, contribuir positivamente a sus comunidades.

En signant une pétition qui sera délivrée au siège de l’ONU avant le 19 septembre, pendant la session de l’Assemblée générale, les habitants de la planète entière peuvent faire entendre leur voix pour faire en sorte que chaque enfant réfugié ait accès à l’instruction, que chaque famille réfugiée ait un endroit où vivre en toute sécurité et que chaque personne réfugiée puisse travailler ou apprendre de nouvelles compétences pour apporter une contribution positive à sa communauté.

Canadian Lutheran World Relief und der ÖRK planen eine gemeinsame Aktion für die Rechte von Flüchtlingen, nachdem diese kirchliche kanadische Nothilfeorganisation als neues Mitglied im ÖRK aufgenommen worden ist. In diesem Kontext gibt es Pläne für eine Zusammenarbeit von CLWR und ÖRK im Bereich von Advocacy-Initiativen im Rahmen des Ökumenischen Büros der Vereinten Nationen (EUNO) in New York.
