Dear Bishop McKenzie,

Grace and peace to you in the name our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I write to you to offer condolences on behalf of the entire fellowship of WCC member churches around the world on the senseless and horrific shootings at a grocery store in Buffalo last weekend and a McDonald’s in Chicago this week.

Together we grieve our sisters and brothers in the US for the loss of life and we pray for the healing of those injured. We join you in acknowledging “

In this time, we are reminded of our call to love our neighbor and recognize the sanctity of all life. We pray for the people of the city of Buffalo, the city of Chicago and the communities in the United States who experience far too often the tragedy of gun violence.

We join you in your cry from the prophet Habakkuk – O Lord, How long shall I cry for help. May you be strengthened by our fellowship in Christ and may violence everywhere cease.

In condolence,

Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca

Acting General Secretary
