“The impacts of the church to humanity and human development in the society affirmed the critical purpose of the church’s existence,” he said. “Some of these contributions include education, healthcare and overall human development.”

The theme of the assembly is “Keeping Faith with the Word in an Ever-Changing World – Embracing the Mystery,” and Sauca reflected that the theme is very apt in times such as these. “Within your borders, I know that you are working assiduously to overcome violent crimes, a rise in poverty, hunger, unemployment, mental health concerns and other challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said. “The world is in search of answers to these many challenges and the church must be seen as leading people to God who is able to provide solutions to the local, regional and global problems.”
