Describing His Eminence Mor Selwanos as “a devoted servant of Christ,” Sauca wrote: “He was a peacemaker and peacebuilder in times of war, in his community and beyond.”
Sauca also added that “his active role in healing the wounds of all who suffered will keep his memory eternal,” not only in his church, but also in the ecumenical family at large.
“On behalf of the World Council of Churches, I extend my sympathy to Your Holiness, to the Syrian Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East and to his family,” the letter concludes. “May his memory be eternal!”
