The abducted archbishops of Aleppo, bishop Boulod Yaziji and H.E. Mor Gregorious Youhanna Ibrahim.

World Council of Churches acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca voiced solidarity with those praying for the release of two metropolitans of Aleppo, His Eminence Boulos (Yazigi), from the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, and His Eminence Mor Youhanna Gregorios (Ibrahim) from the Syrian Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East.

The archbishops were abducted on 22 April 2013, and many around the world are marking the seventh anniversary of the tragic event with prayers.

“We keep in communion of prayer with their churches, and we implore God for their return,” said Sauca. “In solidarity with their families, we also express our deep sympathy for their pain and anguish of missing their loved ones for such a length of time.”
