Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have faced new challenges worldwide. Our life situation has changed drastically and in many places and regions of the world it has even become an existential challenge. We do face many ambiguities and uncertainties, which raise many questions. In such a life situation, it is good to rely on the experiences and practices of others, and to be part of a wider fellowship of voices of reason and support.
For the third time, the World Council of Churches (WCC) COVID-19 support team has collected relevant questions from the ecumenical fellowship. The team shares answers below as a way of supporting churches, partners and individuals navigating their unique responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The WCC COVID-19 support team consists of nine specialised staff members who respond in ways that bring the ecumenical fellowship into dialogue to share accurate information and comfort in the face of ambiguity and fear.
New questions this week include:
1. How can the church advance a disability inclusive response to COVID-19?
2. What can we do when people are not used to keeping physical distance?
3. What can we do in the hurricane season in light of the COVID-19 pandemic?
4. What is the relationship between forests, people and COVID-19?
6. Domestic violence has increased in times of the pandemic. How is this related to patriarchy?
8. How have indigenous communities been affected by COVID 19?
