The youth meeting took place at the Línea Cuchilla Institute, in Misiones, Argentina, with Thursdays in Black being at the centre, as young people, dressed in black, expressed their solidarity and commitment for peace and against violence. This activity, an integral part of the meeting, became a symbol of the unity of the young people of the IERP in the fight against violence and discrimination in all its forms.
The youth meeting brought together participants from the seven districts of the IERP and took place from 8-12 January with the motto “Our Faith.” It had spaces for devotionals, enriching talks, thematic workshops, sports, recreation, and other spaces for communion.
Fifteen-year-old Chiara Albrecht, who lives in Buenos Aires, participated in the youth Thursdays in Black action.
“Having participated in Thursdays in Black is very important, to make visible issues that are often silenced,” she said. “For me, the fight against gender violence is important because I believe that as a teenager you can also make a change, for my future, my present and that of others.”
