The patriarch, who was visiting for the installation of the His Eminence Archbishop Mor Anthimos, arrived at the Jaffa Gate area in Jerusalem, entering the city in a procession and walking in the midst of joyful acclamations of the faithful. A welcome ceremony took place in the plaza in front of the New Imperial Hotel and Little Petra Hotel—a spot that includes church-owned buildings and leads to various Patriarchates and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

The patriarch also prayed a thanksgiving prayer at St Marys Church within the walls of St Mark Monastery. His Holiness prayed the special services for the intercession of the Virgin Mary and the saints, and blessed the faithful.

He was received by His Eminence Archbishop Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Jerusalem, Jordan and the Holy Land, and the monks, priests, deacons, and delegations from representatives of the Christian churches from the Holy Land.

His Holiness entered the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where he kissed the Stone of Anointing and entered the tomb of the Lord Christ. He then prayed the service of the Holy Cross. Afterwards, His Holiness entered St Nicodemus and St Joseph Church where he prayed the special services for the intercession of the Virgin Mary and the saints. He also blessed the people.

His Holiness also went to Bethlehem, where he was also received joyfully by Christians and authorities there.
