The theme for this year will be Listen to the Voice of Creation,” and the symbol will be the burning bush. Today, the prevalence of unnatural fires are a sign of the devastating effects that climate change has on the most vulnerable of our planet. Creation cries out as forests crackle, animals flee, and people are forced to migrate due to the fires of injustice.

Dr Louk Andrianos, World Council of Churches consultant on Care for Creation, Sustainability and Climate Justice, closed the webinar with a prayer together for God's creation.

"Mighty Triune God, thank you for leading us to understand that the creation speaks and we have to listen,” prayed Andrianos. "Heavenly Father, this year 2022 we, as the Season of Creation ecumenical family, commit ourselves to listen to the voice of your creation in every place we are.”

The prayer lamented that creation is suffering because of the destructive sins of selfishness, anthropocentric greed, disobedience, and isolation from God and from creation. Open our spiritual ears and transform our whole being to live your holy words and to react to the voice of your creation so that peace, harmony, joy and eternal life will abound in this world,” the prayer read. We also thank you, God Creator, because your creation is speaking about your glory and gracious love in every form of life.”

The prayer emphasized that all of creation is sacred. Give us the wisdom of your Holy Spirit to transform our lifestyle towards the reconciliation with nature and with you, Creator of all,” concluded the prayer.

Season of Creation is a time to renew our relationship with creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment together. During the Season of Creation, communities and individuals worldwide join the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home.

The World Council of Churches has been instrumental in making this special time a season, extending the celebration from 1 September until 4 October.
