Lecture: Women of Power

Whilst women around the world are slowly getting better represented in top level leadership positions in political and social spheres, many barriers still remain. As the linkage between women's empowerment and development, prosperity and peace is increasingly recognized and the issue is moving higher up on the global agenda, the WCC in collaboration with the International Alliance of Women invites media and the general public to a lecture by Norwegian politician and researcher Torild Skard.

Whilst women around the world are slowly getting better represented in top level leadership positions in political and social spheres, many barriers still remain, such as discrimination, gender stereotyping, balancing work versus family commitments, and prejudice. These barriers help maintain a gender gap and prevent women from fulfilling their potential and contributing to national and global social, political and economic development goals.

As the linkage between women's empowerment and development, prosperity and peace is increasingly recognized and the issue is moving higher up on the global agenda, the World Council of Churches (WCC) in collaboration with the International Alliance of Women (IAW) invites media and the general public to a lecture by Norwegian politician and researcher Torild Skard.

The lecture is open to the public, and will be followed by a panel discussion.
