On the first leg of a visit to Switzerland, the Vatican, South Africa and Kenya, a twelve-person national delegation from the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. is visiting the World Council of Churches (WCC) and its Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, just outside Geneva.

The delegation, led by Convention president, Rev. Dr William J. Shaw, is meeting with the WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia and other WCC programme staff, and is interested "in building stronger relationships within and outside the churches that are responsive to the changing dynamic landscape of Christendom and the unrelenting violence in our world".

The National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. is a member church of the WCC. Rev. Dr Angelique Walker-Smith, the Convention's ecumenical representative and the organizer of the tour, is a former member of the WCC central committee.
