«C’est avec tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de Julio Hector de Santa Ana, référence dans le domaine de la théologie œcuménique dans une perspective libératrice», a déclaré le pasteur Jerry Pillay, secrétaire général du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE). J. de Santa Ana est décédé le 17 avril à Genève, en Suisse.

“It was with sadness that we received the news of the passing of Prof. Dr Julio Hector de Santa Ana, a reference of ecumenical theology in a liberating perspective,” said Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC). De Santa Ana passed away in Geneva, Switzerland, on 17 April.

Rev. Dr Angelique Walker-Smith is senior associate for Pan African and Orthodox Church Engagement at Bread for the World. She also serves on the World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee. She recently participated in a rally and march in Washington, DC, where thousands gathered to commemorate the 57th anniversary of the March on Washington in 1963 that included Rev. Der Weltverband für christliche Kommunikation (World Association for Christian Communication, WACC) hat einen Soforthilfe-Fonds gegründet, mit dem Medienkanäle von Bürgerorganisationen und Gemeinwesen unterstützt werden sollen, die schutzbedürftige Gesellschaftsgruppen, die oftmals keinen Zugang zu den Massenmedien haben, mit korrekten und gesicherten Informationen im Zusammenhang mit dem Coronavirus versorgen. The World Association for Christian Communication is creating a rapid response fund to help support grassroots community media outlets that provide accurate, trusted coronavirus-related information to vulnerable people who often cannot access mainstream media. Individuals and organisations are encouraged to contribute to the fund.

Ten years ago, while studying to become a nurse, Khadijah Abdullah was confronted at a hospital with a rather difficult patient, a Muslim living with AIDS who was also coping with several other medical issues. When Abdullah realized how isolated and stigmatized this patient was in his own faith community, she became aware of her prejudices and ignorance and she decided to do something about it.

L’Entraide luthérienne mondiale du Canada et le COE prévoient une action commune de défense des droits des réfugiés maintenant que l’adhésion au COE de l’organisation ecclésiale canadienne a été approuvée. Le CLWR devrait collaborer avec le COE pour les initiatives de défense des causes par l’intermédiaire du Bureau du COE auprès des Nations Unies (EUNO) à New York.
