Comité central 2014 du COE: l'accréditation des médias est ouverte

Le Comité central du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) se réunira du 2 au 8 juillet 2014. Il s'agira de la première session du Comité central depuis son élection à Busan (République de Corée), à l'occasion de la Dixième Assemblée du COE, qui s'est déroulée du 30 octobre au 8 novembre 2013. La session aura lieu au Centre œcuménique de Genève (Suisse).

WCC general secretary shares with pope aspirations for unity, justice and peace

In an audience with Pope Francis in the Vatican, the WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit stressed the significance of Christian unity. He also expressed appreciation for Pope Francis’s call to pray for peace in Syria and his call for churches to remember the poor, encouraging Christians to work for economic justice.

Lors d'une audience avec le pape François au Vatican, le pasteur Olav Fykse Tveit, secrétaire général du COE a insisté sur l'importance de l'unité chrétienne. Il a en outre exprimé sa satisfaction concernant l'appel du pape François à prier pour la paix en Syrie et son exhortation faite aux Églises pour qu'elles gardent toujours les pauvres à l'esprit, encourageant les chrétiens et chrétiennes à œuvrer en faveur de la justice économique.

Faith communities advocate climate justice at COP19

At the 19th Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Warsaw, Poland, representatives of faith communities called for a just climate deal to be adopted by the UN in 2015. Many observers viewing the event from ethical and spiritual perspectives commented that COP19 concluded without fulfilling expectations of the victims of climate change.

Churches calling for a day of fasting for the poor

Youth delegates to climate-change talks from churches of the Lutheran World Federation have initiated a call to fast with the poor and vulnerable who are disproportionately affected by extreme weather events. The call was joined immediately by other faith-based organizations present at the UN climate negotiations.
