The World Council of Churches (WCC) will co-host an action-oriented seminar on Tuesday, May 9th at 2 pm CET, focused on the responsible banking survival guide for faith actors and partners. This online event aims to inspire and advance the actions of faith-based actors and partners to halt the ongoing increase of CO2 emissions by stopping the financing of new fossil fuel projects, focusing on saving children’s lives and securing the future for generations to come.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will cohost an online consultation on 12 April to address the pressing issue of the converging food and debt crises. World Council of Churches (WCC) invites people and churches all over the world to pray, advocate, and stand in solidarity with people in the Holy Land during the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel, to be observed on 16-23 September 2023.

The Global Day of Prayer to End Famine hopes to unite ecumenical partners and faith communities all over the world as a prayerful and spiritual movement to: encourage prayer, reflection and action with information and suggestions; bring awareness regarding famine’s impact on the most vulnerable children and families and to help address its root causes; connect with church-related and other humanitarian organizations that are currently working to bring immediate relief and positive long-term change so children and families can live out God’s aspiration for a dignified, peaceful and violence-free future; help communities and congregations to uphold each other in prayer and support, by sharing experiences, challenge and solutions.

During this week which includes the International Day of Prayer for Peace on 21 September, church organizations, congregations, and people of faith are encouraged to bear a common witness by participating in worship services, educational events, and acts of support in favour of peace and justice for Israelis and Palestinians.

It has been two years since the United High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) launched its Global Action Plan to End Statelessness and the first ever Global Forum on Statelessness in The Hague, The Netherlands, where an ecumenical delegation shared their Recommendations. The purpose of the webinar is to mark this anniversary and assess the work achieved during the launch of this global campaign.

The Churches’ Week of Action on Food is an opportunity for Christians and others around the world to act together for food justice and food sovereignty. It is a special time to raise awareness about farming approaches that help individuals and communities develop resiliency and combat poverty. The Food for Life Campaign places a particular emphasis on sustainable agricultural practices and the situation of smallholder producers and their access to, and control over, natural resources such as land, water and seeds.
