Bible study on Genesis 2:4b-17 by Jione Havea for the WCC Assembly, 31 October 2013: The God of life created human beings from the earth with God’s breath of life. The very nature of human life is in connection with God and creation. God entrusted us with the mission to look after the garden of life and forbad us to eat the fruits that tempt us to be like the Almighty God. The opening Bible study is a reflection on the nature of life and how to celebrate, sustain and affirm it in relation to the theme of the assembly. Diverse contextual readings of the text are possible.

Estudio bíblico sobre Génesis 2:4b-17, por Jione Havea, para el segundo día de la Asamblea, 31 de octubre 2013: El Dios de vida creó a los seres humanos del polvo de la tierra con su aliento de vida. La propia naturaleza de la vida humana se relaciona con Dios y con la creación. Dios nos encomendó la misión de cuidar el jardín de la vida y nos prohibió comer de los frutos que constituían la tentación de ser como el Dios todopoderoso. El estudio bíblico de apertura es una reflexión sobre la naturaleza de la vida y sobre la forma de celebrarla, sustentarla y afirmarla en relación con el tema de la Asamblea. Es posible hacer diversas lecturas contextuales del texto.

Étude biblique sur Genèse 2,4b-17, par Jione Havea, pour le 2e jour de l’Assemblée, 31 octobre 2013: Le Dieu de vie a créé les êtres humains à partir de la terre avec le souffle de vie de Dieu. La nature même de la vie humaine est en rapport avec Dieu et la création. Dieu nous a confié la mission de nous occuper du jardin de vie et il nous a interdit de manger les fruits qui nous incitent à être comme le Dieu Tout-Puissant. La première étude biblique est une réflexion sur la nature de la vie et sur la manière de l’honorer, de la préserver et de l’affirmer en relation avec le thème de l’Assemblée. Diverses lectures contextuelles de ce texte sont possibles.

This document offers a summary of the Ninth report from the Joint Working Group between the Roman Catholic Church and the WCC, which relates the focus and work of the group from 2007 through 2012. As the group approaches its fiftieth year, its recent foci include in-depth work on the notion of ecclesial reception of ecumenical work, the spiritual roots of ecumenism, church participation of youth, and emerging work on migration.

Ce document est le résumé d'un grand rapport établi par le Groupe mixte de travail sur le champ d'action et le travail du Groupe de 2007 à 2012. Le groupe, qui célèbrera bientôt cinquante ans d'existence, s’est récemment penché sur le concept de réception ecclésiale des travaux œcuméniques, les racines spirituelles de l'œcuménisme, la participation des jeunes dans l'Église et le travail qui se profile en matière de migration. Intitulé Se recevoir mutuellement au nom du Christ: Neuvième Rapport, 2007-2012, il est publié séparément.
