UN Financing for Development Forum Side-event on "Can taxing the rich help to close the gender divide? And why should we care?”

Linking with the theme of 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”, this hybrid session will bring a range of perspectives to bear on the questions: What can we do to address extreme wealth concentration? How can taxing the richest in our societies as well as addressing corporate tax evasion serve to advance the goal of gender equity? And why should faith-based organisations care?

Dans le cadre du cycle de prière œcuménique, nous prions pour les peuples et les Églises de Roumanie, de Hongrie et de Bulgarie.

La Journée mondiale de la santé a lieu le 7 avril, date à laquelle l’Organisation mondiale de la Santé célèbre son 76e anniversaire. Cette année, le thème est «Ma santé, mon droit», ce qui nous rappelle qu’il faut plaider en faveur d’un accès équitable aux services de santé et œuvrer pour un monde plus sain et plus inclusif.

World Health Day Prayer Sunday 7 April 2024

With the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle, we pray for the people and churches of Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.

World Health Day is April 7 when the World Health Organization commemorates its 76th anniversary. This year the theme is 'My Health, My Right, which reminds us to advocate for equitable access to health services and work towards a healthier, more inclusive world.

Seven Weeks for Water 2024, week 3: "Celebrating Jesus’ life in water through the lens of justice”

The third reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2024 series of the WCC Ecumenical Water Network is written by Very Rev. Dr Augustinos Bairactaris. In this reflection, he underscores that the water justice issue is a theological task for all, and that the health of the water is vital to human civilization, and for the stability of the worlds climate and biodiversity. He urges all Christians to pray, fast, and act together for a sustainable environment and planet, especially during Lent.

Bossey research fellows begin their WCC journey

Six students from the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey are beginning their research fellowship programme with the World Council of Churches (WCC), where they will work and study for six weeks as part of their spring semester. 

Seven Weeks for Water 2024, week 2: How can we drink from our own cisterns?

The second reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2024 series of the WCC Ecumenical Water Network is written by Rev. Vinod Victor, Anglican Church of Freiburg in Germany. In this reflection, he compares the water situation of early Palestine to that of today in the wake of the ongoing war in Gaza. He also asks how people can drink from their own cisterns when they are controlled by outsiders.
