The World Council of Churches (WCC) will be represented at the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) World Assembly on 2-10 August in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Der Pressedienst des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) traf sich am Rande der Konferenz für Weltmission und Evangelisation, die der ÖRK vom 8. bis 13. März in Tansania abhielt, mit Dr. Samuel George vom Ökumenischen Aktionsbündnis von und für Menschen mit Behinderungen (EDAN). George ist Theologieprofessor am Allahabad-Bibelseminar in Indien und war vom ÖRK eingeladen worden, im Rahmen der Konferenz zum Thema Behinderung zu sprechen.

WCC News meet with Dr Samuel George of the WCC Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network (EDAN) at the Conference on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME), held in Tanzania from 8-13 March, World Council of Churches (WCC). George, a Christian theology professor at Allahabad Bible Seminary in India, was invited by the WCC to make presentations on disability in various parts of the conference.

La encargada de noticias del CMI se reunió con el Dr. Samuel George de la Red Ecuménica de Defensa de las Personas Discapacitadas del CMI (EDAN) en la Conferencia sobre Misión Mundial y Evangelización (CMME), celebrada en Tanzanía del 8 al 13 de marzo, organizada por el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI). El CMI invitó a Samuel George, un profesor de teología cristiana en el seminario sobre la biblia de Allahabad en la India, a presentar una ponencia sobre discapacidad en varias secciones de la conferencia.

Samuel George, professeur de théologie chrétienne au séminaire Allahabad Bible Seminary (Inde), était invité par le COE à intervenir sur le handicap lors de cette conférence.

“We’ve seen in the case of refugees, how the church takes a strong standpoint in welcoming those who have fled. But it isn’t always so easy in the congregations. There are many who feel fear, as we receive not only refugees but sometimes also people of other faiths. In this case, we can see a gap between what the church says, and what is actually lived.”

A new generation of ecumenical Christians has engaged preeminent issues of contemporary global Christianity in a new publication from Globethics.

Dr Dietrich Werner is the recipient of an honorary Doctorate in Divinity, awarded to him by Serampore College in India. The title was conferred in recognition of Werner’s long-term contributions to theological education, mission and ecumenism, and for building ecumenical partnerships among Christian academic institutions in Asia and advising forums on theological education in India.

Nearly one hundred representatives of the German member churches of the WCC met from 16 to 18 January at the Evangelical Academy of Loccum in order to share their experiences from the WCC 10th Assembly and to discuss how they would continue their way together on their pilgrimage of justice and peace.

An opening with a vibrant worship service at the Graduate School of Theology of Hanshin University marked the beginning of the GETI on 26 October in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
