World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay marked 11 January as a “significant moment for justice and the rule of law,” as public hearings commenced in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on allegations against the State of Israel of violations of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. 

“Lead us from despair to hope, from fear to love, and may peace be in our hearts,” said Rev. Gabrielle Zander from the Augusta Victoria Church in an opening word of prayer, as participants in the WCC-EAPPI gathered in Saint Anne’s Basilica in Jerusalem in mid-April.

“Guíanos de la desesperación a la esperanza, del miedo al amor, y que la paz esté en nuestros corazones”, dijo la Rev. Gabrielle Zander, de la Iglesia Augusta Victoria, en la oración de apertura que pronunció durante una reunión de los participantes en el Programa Ecuménico de Acompañamiento en Palestina e Israel del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI-PEAPI) en la Basílica de Santa Ana, en Jerusalén, a mediados de abril.

Rev. Dr Owe Boersma will take over the post of EAPPI international programme coordinator in Geneva, effective 26 September 2016. Mr Manuel Quintero, after eight years of service as EAPPI international programme coordinator based in Geneva, has reached retirement age and will be leaving the World Council of Churches’ EAPPI international office at the end of August.

El Rev. Dr. Owe Boersma asumirá el cargo como coordinador internacional del Programa Ecuménico de Acompañamiento en Palestina e Israel (PEAPI), en Ginebra, a partir del 26 de septiembre de 2016. Tras ocho años desempeñando la labor de coordinador internacional del PEAPI desde Ginebra, el Sr. Manuel Quintero ha alcanzado la edad de jubilación, por lo que, a finales de agosto, dejará la oficina internacional del programa en el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias.
