August 15 is celebrated as Liberation Day in Korea, the day that signifies Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonization.
In 2013, the WCC 10th General Assembly meeting in Busan, Korea passed a resolution that the churches of the world will annually observe each Sunday prior to August 15 as a “Sunday of Prayer for the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula.”
The Reconciliation and Reunification Committee of the NCCK drafted this liturgy in the hopes that each church could apply it with reference to their own situation.
The Joint Prayer for the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula was prepared by both the NCCK (South) and the Korean Christian Federation (North) together.
In 2018 the two leaders from North and South Korea met and adopted the Panmunjom Declaration and the Pyongyang Declaration. Korean people together with the whole world celebrated and affirmed the two declarations as they pave a new way to peace, prosperity, and unification of the divided Korea. The NCCK together with the global ecumenical community will consolidate all its effort to actualize the spirit of the two declarations.

Each year during the week that includes the International Day of Peace (21 September), churches, related organizations, congregations, and people of faith are encouraged to participate in worship services, educational events, and acts of support for a just and sustainable peace for both Palestinians and Israelis.

A tribute to remember and celebrate the lives of Rev. Norman Tendis (15 August 1967 – 11 March 2019) and Rev. Robina Winbush (16 July 1957 – 12 March 2019) . The executive committee members participated in this service along with the staff community.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) held Midday Prayer for those grieving after Ethiopian Airlines flight disaster on 20 March. Prayers focused on grieving families, friends and colleagues who lost loved ones from UN agencies, the WCC and other organizations who perished in the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash on 10 March.

During the week of 18-25 January, we celebrate two important events: the Week of Action to Fight Inequality and the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity which has as its theme for 2019, “justice and only justice you shall pursue” (Deuteronomy 16, 18-20). As Christians, we are a diverse, worldwide family. Jesus calls us to be the light of the world, to preach the good news to those that have less. Where can our worldwide network serve as a light in a world of tremendous inequalities? Where can the Holy Spirit help us to come together as one and discover our potential for enacting change?

Under the 2018 theme of "Know your status", World AIDS Day 2018 is an opportunity to remember the people who have been lost to the epidemic, to we give thanks for the progress made and make new commitments to ensuring no one is left behind.
